The Painter & The Surveyor:
Does Measurement Kill Creativity? In recent years, analytics have attracted a lot of attention in business. Still, a large part of Marketing has not fully integrated quantitative methods in the decision making process, especially on the Web. It is even said that measurement is a barrier to creativity’s full expression, that there is an intrinsic tension between the creative types and the “bean counters”. But is it really so? In this presentation, we will see that creativity generates maximum benefits when funneled towards factual, tangible results. True examples from various fields, as well as Web Analytics, we will make the case for measurement in digital marketing.
The Surgeon’s Knife:
Why Segmenting is AnalysisSegmentation is at the heart of the true analytical discovery process, but too often it is the road not taken. We will present the power of segmentation not only as a marketing tool, but as a powerful instrument in the exploration of data. We will learn not to be afraid of taking paths with no destination, of retreating from barren lands, and of taking essential risks. We will learn to pursue root causes while avoiding being blinded by correlation. We propose a journey into methodology, and how solid knowledge can be called truth, until proven otherwise.
